By planting trees, this year's EcoExper!ence 2009 is CO₂ neutral.                Adopt one of 50 EU climate-trees to compensate the CO₂ emissions of the EcoExperience events.
From Rotterdam to Copenhagen



4-20 October 2009 - In the run-up to the UN climate change conference in December, the EU Commission is bringing you EcoExperience – a series of activities around climate and energy for young people in different cities in Denmark, Germany and the Netherlands.

Wherever we look, we see the consequences of global warming – unprecedented heat waves, vicious forest fires, melting glaciers and huge floods. The EU is doing all it can to fight climate change, including by reducing emissions of greenhouse gases. During EcoExperience, you can discover some great initiatives to combat climate change.

The EcoExperience will kick off with the launch of (hot air) balloons in Rotterdam. Also starting there is the tour of the Loremo, an environmentally friendly car (co-financed by the EU). The car will be driving from The Hague to Copenhagen, crossing three countries and stopping off at the different Europe Direct centres it passes, to join in the festivities taking place there.

Record your own video message for the climate conference

A red thread running through all the events is 'Connect with the EU'. A video camera will be available at the Europe Direct centres for you to record a one-minute message – advice, criticism, comments or compliments – for the new EU environment commissioner and the Dutch, German and Danish environment ministers. The 5 best videos from each country will be screened during the Copenhagen climate conference in December, where the EU will be taking part in the hope that a new global climate agreement will be reached.

The EcoExperience events are organised in close collaboration with different partners like the Ministries, Provincial and local authorities but also FIA, ANWB, ADAC, FDM and Shell.
